Maintaining trust of pay and finance with a well-known brand.

The Challenge:
When Google made the strategic decision to retire Android Pay and unify its payment products under the Google Pay name, we were faced with the challenge of making sure that the personality was not lost.

My Role:
As a designer, I helped shape the international identity of Google Pay from the ground up. Partnering with various banks as well as maintaining high standards and keeping the Google voice strong and unwavering.

The Approach:
We built the new brand around three pillars: clarity, security, and human connection. I worked across teams to translate those principles into local friendly design systems. One key initiative was creating toolkits and partering with local financial intitutions so the experience felt native, no matter where you tapped to pay.

We also launched the rebrand with a massive go-to-market campaign including my assistance in the direction of email paths, social, landing pages; all to keep the touchpoints consistant.

The Outcome:
The rebrand successfully introduced Google Pay as the new face of Google’s payment ecosystem. Internally, the new design system streamlined workflows across global teams and empowered partners to go to market with confidence.
